Colombia, with its well-established power grid infrastructure, plays a pivotal role in this energy revolution. The country shares the necessary infrastructure to evacuate the renewable energy generated by the Vientos de Catalina 1.029 GW offshore wind island. Moreover, the country is planning to develop additional infrastructure to add an additional 1.029 GW of power generation capacity. This expansion includes two offshore substations and an AC/DC converter plant, further enhancing Colombia's energy capabilities.

Colombia's ambition to become an energy hub has broader implications for the region. It has the potential to fuel President Petro's dream of a unified currency for all of the Americas, reducing dependence on fluctuating purchasing power capacity of the US dollar. With abundant clean energy supply, countries can unlock their full economic potential and compete on a global scale. The creation of an energy hub also aligns with the 22nd-century goals, allowing countries to reclaim their right to govern and promote sustainable development.

The long-term vision includes expanding the hub's capacity to 20-25 GW, connecting the Caribbean Islands, such as Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands, to the grid.
